Sausalito

We took a trip over the bridge to Sausalito for our Sweet & Spark summer photoshoot. I fall in love with this city more and more each day, especially since the weather has been so dreamy recently. With summer on my mind, I can't help but also look forward to fall and sweater weather! Jillian and I have already begun booking fall apparel, and we have some sweet knits and blouses picked out so far.  I am on the hunt for the perfect slip skirt to pair with loose sweaters, booties and a trench coat. But until then, let these photos give you all the California dreaming inspiration for those long summer days.

Vintage Brooches for Summer

This season's conversational brooches are filled with fruits, flamingos and palm trees! We were feeling so inspired by retro Palm Spring motifs for summer, it was so much fun putting this collection together. My personal favorite are the pink rhinestone flamingos, we happened to find a few!

A Polka Dot Jumpsuit

There will always be a soft spot in my heart for a jumpsuits, especially one with a feminine aesthetic like ruffles and polka dots, like our new Sanctuary jumpsuit for summertime. The fabrication, like most pieces from this line, is gorgeous in quality and the wide leg pant makes for an effortless fit. I am looking forward to wearing this number around the city with a pair of white sneakers and a denim jacket, or out to wine country with a little block heel sandal. Oh, and of course, I'll always top it off with a pair of vintage statement earrings and a vintage scarf!

Summer Mood Board

This season at Sweet & Spark we're saying hello to Summer with citrus colored florals, eyelet fabrics and nautical motifs. When concepting for our upcoming season, I was really inspired by colorful vintage Hermรจs dvertisements. Their editorial images have so much life and movement captured, they really feel like a perfect fit for our scarf collection and seasonal aesthetic. I always love including shades of pink into our color palette since it is such a brand color, and Jillian and I have both been crushing on lilac recently. The rest of our Summer color palette came from pulling some more inspiration images together that felt right, and eye dropping swatches for powdery blues, mossy greens and sunshine yellows.

From there, I created our "dream" jewelry collections, which means pulling antique and auction images from 1st Dibs and Sotheby's to give Jillian a clear buying map for what to keep our eyes out for. The main categories we laid out for the season were fruits, sea life creatures and other beach motifs like palm trees and flamingos. Along with our fashion categories, we really felt like good Summer staples should include oversized gold hoops, gold bangles and delicate layering necklaces.
